Major was bred by Brian Banham from Norfolk, one of the top Shire horse breeders in this country.

Because Major he has 2 dark legs, other breeders thought Alistair had " lost his marbles" and made a poor decision in buying him in September 2009 when he was 8 months old.

It was only after the purchase of Major, and with some investigation, that his pedigree came to light. Looking back over five generations, it was almost a surprise to Alistair to find just how well bred he is, but not so when you look at the quality of his limbs.

His conformation and pedigree is fantastic and he will grow on to a height well over 18 hands. He may never win a championship with two dark legs, as a lot of judges are colour prejudiced, but Alistair is confident that when he mates with his first crop of mares in 2011, the resulting foals born in 2012 will enhance the already fantastic bloodline here at Cotebrook.

Breeding is a long drawn out process but it is exciting watching a young foal develop and progress into a fabulous stallion to mate with his mares.
